About the position

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations at Tribal worksites, ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently. This role involves supervising construction crews, coordinating with subcontractors, and managing jobsite resources, including materials and equipment. The Project Manager also plays a key role in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and project standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting for weather, supply, delivery, and personnel changes.
  • Delegates responsibilities and project schedules to crew members and contractors.
  • Provides adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, and safety needs.
  • Regularly reports on project status to supervisors and managers.
  • Monitors crew members for safe tool and equipment use, ensuring compliance with safety gear and procedures.
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, managing, and mentoring employees and contractors.
  • Develops scope of works, budgets, schedules, and quality standards for projects.
  • Conducts and attends pre-construction, progress, and other project-related meetings.
  • Resolves conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
  • Maintains daily logs and recommends improvements for crew performance.
  • Performs manual labor tasks such as painting, carpentry, and demolition as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associates Degree or Equivalent preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in building rehabilitation, reconstruction, commercial construction, and construction management.
  • Experience working in a Native American/Tribal Government setting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and construction industry standards.
  • Experience and knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Must possess NM Class D Driver's License or be willing to obtain it.
  • Must possess CPR/First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain it.

Nice-to-haves

  • GB-98 certification is a plus but not required.
  • Any additional relevant certification will be considered an advantage.
