About the position

The Project Manager position at Abbott is a remote role focused on managing the development and implementation of the company's products and services. This role involves coordinating departmental and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of new or existing products, while also providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior project leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate project levels of effort and resource requirements using standard estimating techniques and tools.
  • Prepare project plans, schedules, and budgets using project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking schedules, identifying risks, and developing contingency plans.
  • Assure project quality by using standard development methodologies and collaborating with SQA to develop quality plans.
  • Communicate project status through standard reports and participation in status update meetings.
  • Resolve project issues by collaborating with team members and project customers.
  • Consult with internal project groups to share project management knowledge and mentor junior project leaders.
  • Participate in external project management organizations and conferences to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Interface with senior management and coordinate activities across organizational units.
  • Facilitate training and provide feedback to develop other technical contributors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience with a complete understanding of the specified functional area.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a particular technological field and in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies.
  • Ability to perform in a quality system environment and ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Strong cognitive skills to analyze complex problems and evaluate various factors.
