About the position

The Project Manager at the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) is responsible for directing the planning tasks associated with the modernization, new development, and redevelopment of public housing. This role involves collaboration with other planning administrators and supervision of assistant planners and planning inspectors, ensuring that all activities align with CHA's strategic goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the planning phases of modernization, new development, and redevelopment programs established by CHA.
  • Prepare proposals and applications for funding under Federal, State, and local programs.
  • Conduct planning studies and data collection/analysis for effective implementation of CHA policies and programs.
  • Represent CHA in meetings with funding agencies, city officials, and tenant/citizen groups regarding modernization and development activities.
  • Prepare recommendations on project scope for the Director of Planning and Development.
  • Solicit, select, and provide administrative services to architects and engineers.
  • Maintain records documenting project progress.
  • Communicate with funding agencies.
  • Coordinate work with tenant councils, managers, citizen groups, and other CHA departments.
  • Coordinate site selection for new development projects.
  • Review reports, information, and construction plans and specifications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in program administration, contract administration, or housing planning is required.
  • Master's degree in planning, business administration, real estate development, public administration, or architecture is preferred.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and insurable under CHA policies.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook).
  • Ability to use financial, accounting, and file management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in affordable housing development or public sector project management.
  • Familiarity with State and Federal housing programs.
