About the position

The Project Manager at Unified Door and Hardware Group is a senior-level management role responsible for overseeing all aspects of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maximizing profitability. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage project financials and maintain customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provides pro-active leadership to the entire project team including Assistant Project Managers, Project Assistants, Shipping/Receiving personnel, and Project Accountants.
  • Liaises regularly with Engineering, Estimating, and Sales departments to ensure a complete understanding of the project.
  • Attends and leads project meetings with personnel and stakeholders as required.
  • Manages project financials in collaboration with senior management.
  • Periodically reviews project profitability with direct reports and senior management.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for customers, collaborating on value engineering for cost or delivery concerns.
  • Maintains compliance with contract requirements and manages contract documents throughout the project.
  • Facilitates project correctness by submitting questions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reviews final submittals for accuracy before procurement begins.
  • Manages all project communications to ensure timely responses to customers.
  • Documents project progress in company software and incorporates changes through ASIs, Bulletins, and RFIs.
  • Prepares and manages the change order process, negotiating with customers as necessary.
  • Maximizes profitability through effective buying and scheduling, and manages labor and installation costs.
  • Engages with the Project Accountant regarding billing and payment status, and follows up with customers as needed.
  • Manages job closeout processes, including punch lists, to ensure complete final payment and customer satisfaction.
  • Reviews project financials with senior management when requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Two to four years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in the door and hardware industry or a related trade.
  • Strong competency in computer software and product knowledge.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Familiarity with electronic access control devices.
