About the position

Thompson Turner Construction is seeking a Project Manager to oversee construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The role involves collaboration with clients, subcontractors, architects, and engineers, supported by project management, accounting, and estimating teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, particularly in estimating, bidding, and subcontractor management, with a focus on delivering complex projects and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Review project proposals or plans to determine schedule, budget limitations, and procedures for accomplishing the project.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of the project, arranging for recruitment or assignment of project personnel or subcontractors.
  • Confer with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepare status reports on the project and present them monthly to clients and corporate personnel as required.
  • Provide technical advice and resolve problems in coordination with project personnel.
  • Coordinate project activities with government regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Execute the project as designed and submit change orders for adjustments to the plan as necessary.
  • Oversee safety compliance and performance, ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken if necessary.
  • Evaluate the Site Superintendent's performance in implementing and enforcing management values.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with Thompson Turner services.
  • Monitor and guide on-site staff regarding reports, billings, financials, and personnel issues.
  • Act as a liaison between the on-site group and corporate headquarters.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in building commercial general contracting projects.
  • Experience with civil and structural steel projects is extremely helpful.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent experience.
  • Superior computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong math and analytical skills related to cost and pricing.
  • Ability to work effectively and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Previous experience in building industrial buildings is a plus.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
