About the position

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing project execution, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves planning, directing, and monitoring the work produced by teams, while also managing scope, risk, and budget. The Project Manager must possess a broad knowledge of project management best practices and proactively identify potential risks, consulting with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and monitor the work produced by the team(s).
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including ongoing communications and negotiation of scope and schedule changes.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, providing resolutions as necessary.
  • Shape client expectations and manage project scope, risk, and budget.
  • Oversee user acceptance testing and provide test cases/test scenarios for UAT.
  • Communicate effectively with functional area experts and technical team members.
  • Utilize JIRA and other project management tools for project tracking and reporting.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of job-related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred in Business, Accounting, or IT-related field.
  • Project Management certification (PMP) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using JIRA and other project management tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile Software Development Lifecycle Process, including incremental/iterative and Waterfall methods.
  • Experience working with web application development teams using technologies such as Java and Drupal.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience being both a Project Manager and Business Analyst on the same project is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in research/educational institutions or small IT companies preferred.
