About the position

The Project Manager position within the Department of Defense is a critical role that involves overseeing the entire project life cycle, ensuring that all aspects of project management are executed effectively. The Project Management Plan (PMP) serves as a foundational document that outlines the responsibilities of the Project Delivery Team (PDT), sets clear expectations, and documents essential project elements such as scope, criteria, schedules, milestones, budgets, and dependencies. As a life-cycle Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management, control, coordination, and execution of assigned projects, ensuring that they align with the strategic goals of the Department of Defense. In this role, you will interpret and implement program policies, directives, and procedures, ensuring that all activities related to planning, programming, design, and contracting are completed in a timely manner. You will endorse all products produced in support of the project and ensure that the project schedule incorporates sufficient time and resources for the PDT to deliver quality outcomes. Additionally, you will be tasked with introducing the latest forecasts and proactively resolving anticipated issues related to performance goals, timing, and potential costs. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing concept designs to ensure compliance with project scope and requirements, confirming that the project design adheres to authorization and funding limitations. You will implement corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policies throughout the project development process, ensuring that all intermediate products support the project's objectives. This position requires a strong understanding of project management principles and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage the Project Management Plan (PMP) for assigned projects.
  • Serve as the life-cycle Project Manager responsible for overall project management and execution.
  • Interpret and implement program policies, directives, and procedures.
  • Ensure timely accomplishment of all activities in planning, programming, design, and contracting.
  • Endorse all products produced in support of the project and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Introduce latest forecasts and resolve anticipated problems in performance goals, timing, and costs.
  • Review concept designs for compliance with project scope and requirements.
  • Implement corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policies throughout the project life cycle.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience in design and construction projects, planning, design, and contracting.
  • Ability to research compliance with project requirements and design builds.
  • Experience in decision-making related to project plans to achieve customer goals.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.
