Lonza Pharma & Biotech has an opening for an experienced Project Manager at their Bend, Oregon location.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering site capital projects to scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide direct management, execution, and oversight of capital projects of varying complexity up to $10M in value from concept through Engineering, Design, Construction, Commissioning and Qualification phases.
  • Ensure safety, quality & compliance - project meets the required safety and quality standards, LOTO, NFPA 70e, permit to work, and other company policies and procedures according to internal procedures and specifications as well as health authority requirements.
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with current Lonza and site methodologies, policies, industry best practices, relevant regulations, legal and cGMP requirements.
  • Define project scope and identify problem statement, functional requirements, and recommended options.
  • Establish project team (which can be internal and/or external resources), develops project strategy, master schedule, and spending schedule.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks to scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage plan/design review processes including stage gate reviews, EHS reviews (e.g. HAZOP, etc.), equipment evaluation, tests, and approvals.
  • Supervise contractor evaluation and selection process.
  • Set up project procurement when needed, including vendor selection, RFQ's, bid selection, invoice approval.
  • Manages contractor day to day activities and inspection process to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate the development of engineering, C&Q and GMP documentation, and turn over to Operations.
  • Provide review of scope, schedule and cost progress with appropriate teams with regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Train and mentor others to develop skills in the fields of construction and project management.
  • Support 24/7 operation of manufacturing and facilities.
  • Constructively, courteously and professionally interact with peers and clients in manufacturing, maintenance, utility plants, analytical labs and contracted services.
  • Function effectively with peers and demonstrate a high degree of teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management or a related field is required.
  • Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 1-5 years in engineering related roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 1-5 years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and Building Automation Systems preferred.
