About the position

The Mechanical Project Engineer at Olgoonik is responsible for the design and management of HVAC, mechanical, heating, plumbing, and fire protection systems for various construction projects. This role involves engineering design, field inspections, project management, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. The position requires collaboration with project managers and clients to define project scope and deliver high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering design of HVAC systems, air handling units, mechanical systems, heating systems, and boilers, including sustainable design in all project phases.
  • Perform field inspections for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to define project scope, objectives, and requirements, creating project plans and timelines.
  • Address technical issues and challenges during project execution, providing timely solutions.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on project status and ensuring satisfaction with the project.
  • Provide construction administration services, including submittal and shop drawing reviews, and responding to RFIs.

Requirements

  • 5 years of broad-based mechanical design experience in building systems for government, industrial, and commercial facilities.
  • 5 years of mechanical/MEP engineering design, construction administration services, and project management experience.
  • Proficient with building codes and guidelines such as NYS Energy Code, NYS Mechanical Code, NYS Building Code, and NFPA codes.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • Professional engineering license (P.E.) is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional experience in plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, CCTV, Security Card Access, Structural, and Fueling systems.
  • Direct experience in systems installation or with a contractor is a plus.
