MTech is seeking a medium to high level Mechanical Pipe Coordinator with career aspirations and both technical and demonstrated leadership skills. The VDC/BIM position focuses on managing the design and coordination process to produce piping construction and detail documents while overseeing others below to verify constructability, code compliance, and proper design. This person will work as a support function to all departments within MTech and Field teams. A successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the complete project VDC process from concept to installation and demonstrating proficiency in system coordination through the VDC process. The role involves modeling and preparing construction documents for piping projects in collaboration with MTech's Preconstruction, CAD Operations, and Field teams. The coordinator will also coordinate with other trades on the project team, including architects, general contractors, and other design disciplines, and must possess the ability to work collaboratively and present solutions. Evaluating coordination parameters and system solutions for projects that respond to both technical and budget requirements is essential. The candidate will demonstrate and project a team mentality within the group, assigning trade-specific VC team members to each project while offering team building and guidance. Additionally, the candidate will be effective in modeling and coordination of mechanical systems, providing constructive feedback to update existing standards, and understanding the VDC process from MTech's standards. Communication with the VC Manager, Project Managers, Field Managers, and fabrication shops is crucial as the project progresses, leading overall coordination of assigned projects. The coordinator will assist with the population of system layouts, coordination, and preparation of detailed drawings for fabrication and installation using design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CADmep, and Navisworks (clash detection). Maintaining schedules from general contractors, field construction teams, and fabrication shops is also part of the role, along with participating in trade coordination meetings and establishing positive job relationships.
