About the position

The Project Officer will play a crucial role in supporting New Jersey's child care sector by managing and implementing programs aimed at strengthening child care facilities. This position involves reviewing grant applications, managing relationships with applicants, and ensuring compliance with department policies. The Project Officer will work closely with the Community Development Economic Security team to enhance the operational capabilities of child care providers in the state, contributing to the overall economic recovery and resilience of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess eligibility of program applicants for child care facilities improvement grants.
• Follow up with applicants for incomplete documents and ensure timely review of applications.
• Manage relationships with child care program applicants and grantees, providing communication and support.
• Utilize CRM/Enable to process applications, generate reports, and verify financial records.
• Coordinate with internal teams for timely review of applications and execution of grant agreements.
• Track, aggregate, and report on program spending and performance indicators.
• Support various projects and strategic initiatives to advance the business goals of the team.
• Promote teamwork and communication within the division and with external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in government, nonprofit, grant management, or similar organizations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software packages.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced degree or industry-specific certification may substitute for 1 year of experience.
