About the position

The Project Owner I, II, or III position at Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) involves leading and managing complex, multi-year projects within the Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) at the Savannah River Site. The role requires integration of various work groups and organizations, providing consultation and support to Facility Managers and Project Directors, and ensuring that project objectives are met in terms of technical, cost, and schedule requirements. This position is critical for overseeing project interfaces and facility support organizations, and may involve managing multiple work scopes concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Integrates and manages resources for assigned project(s) by establishing criteria, staffing plans, and schedules.
  • Effectively manages activities of multiple functional groups to ensure output meets technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Contacts groups daily to provide management direction and receive feedback.
  • Resolves conflicts between direction and technical issues from functional groups.
  • Fosters a team concept when interfacing with Operations, Maintenance, Construction, Engineering, and other support groups.
  • Attends meetings, provides reports, and identifies and resolves complex problems.
  • Interfaces with SRMC management and external customers, providing concise presentations regarding project status.
  • Conducts complex analysis of problems involving multiple disciplines.
  • Develops innovative alternative action strategies to achieve milestones early.
  • Performs risk analyses and provides decision authority for corrective actions and priorities.
  • Establishes and manages diverse teams, providing direction and establishing priorities.
  • Manages cost, schedule, and scope while adhering to quality, environmental, and safety objectives.
  • Ensures operational requirements are identified and incorporated into design and execution.
  • Aids in determining when turnover to Operations is acceptable and responsible for timely execution of turnover process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical/science degree and related experience, or a non-technical degree with related experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience.
  • Management experience in engineering, environmental law, maintenance, and shift management.
  • Project management experience and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of earned value management and materials management.
  • Leadership experience in facilities maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Operations experience in SRS Liquid Waste facilities.
  • Maintenance experience in a nuclear facility.
  • Work Management experience in a nuclear facility.
  • Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, DOE orders, and SRS policies.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
