About the position

The Project Policy Analyst 3 position at the University of California Office of the President involves supporting systemwide admissions policy development and analysis. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of undergraduate admissions policies and procedures, focusing on complex projects that impact various stakeholders. The analyst will produce reports and briefings to inform decision-makers and provide research and analytical support for admissions strategies and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analyses using publicly available datasets and published research.
  • Synthesize admissions data and present it in a clear and non-technical manner.
  • Coordinate and assist with developing policy briefings for UC leadership on important initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of UC's undergraduate admissions reports to the Regents, Academic Senate, and the legislature.
  • Identify trends and emerging issues in higher education through environmental scanning.
  • Participate on policy and planning committees for implementation of admission programs.
  • Contribute to communication materials for various audiences including policy briefings and presentations.
  • Attend classes, seminars, and conferences to enhance professional expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience or a combination of experience and graduate education.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Strong policy analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information for proposals and recommendations.
  • Strong content expertise in education policy, preferably higher education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of common computer applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 4 years of secondary or postsecondary experience.
  • Knowledge of UC undergraduate admissions policy and processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis programs and ability to prepare visuals using Excel, Powerpoint, Tableau.
