About the position

The Project Portfolio Manager at Guardian Life Insurance Company is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management and reporting of the enterprise portfolio planning and delivery process. This role requires extensive experience in program and portfolio management, focusing on driving consistent and measurable portfolio delivery across the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with business, finance, and technology leadership to provide data-driven insights for prioritization and ensure that portfolio outcomes are achieved within the defined schedule, financials, and scope.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate portfolio planning and delivery across business, finance, and technology leadership.
  • Manage portfolio delivery roadmap aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Oversee portfolio forecasting, benefit realization progress measurement, and audit compliance to governance processes.
  • Support strategic vision development and planning of the portfolio through lean governance.
  • Facilitate case creation and changes in accordance with the Enterprise Portfolio management process.
  • Cultivate Operational Excellence in portfolio intake through delivery processes.
  • Implement processes related to portfolio data management and solution governance requirements.
  • Drive Solution Governance for the portfolio in alignment with Enterprise Solution Architecture.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of program and portfolio management experience.
  • 5+ years of recent experience leading programs through Agile/SAFe/Iterative/Hybrid methodologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business line initiatives and project management methodologies.
  • Experience managing large transformational programs with multiple business and technology partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in using JIRA Align, JIRA, SharePoint, and other portfolio management tools.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Domain experience in insurance and/or financial industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving analytical capabilities with strong attention to detail.
