About the position

The Project/Program Manager II position at King County Metro's Capital Division is designed for a resourceful and systems-oriented individual who will support the Project Management Office (PMO). This role focuses on enhancing standard management practices and systems that facilitate the planning, delivery, and performance management of capital projects. The successful candidate will engage in process management, data management, and knowledge management, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems within the PMO.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage databases (Airtable) and SharePoint libraries.
  • Make or modify tools, systems, processes, standards, and reports using software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Airtable, or Power BI.
  • Respond to inquiries about procedures and processes related to PMO or Division operations.
  • Assist with developing work plans, training, cost estimates, and monitoring progress for PMO activities.
  • Conduct data gathering, generate informational reports, and provide written reports and presentations on findings.
  • Advocate for the PMO and promote its services and products.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to document and develop best practices.
  • Work with project teams to resolve disputes and build consensus.
  • Provide technical support on program and ad hoc teams.
  • Assist in modifying or developing processes and document reviews or comments on PMO-related work.
  • Conduct research and apply findings to new or existing processes, tools, and concepts.
  • Setup, organize, and maintain files based on established records management requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise for research, analysis, and prototyping new solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of regular or ad hoc reporting.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and education.
  • Two years of experience in a project/program management role or closely related field.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, Word, Excel, Airtable, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Data/Information Management, Process Management, and/or Knowledge Management concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management techniques and concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience in establishing and documenting standard processes and training others on them.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Project Management Institute (PMI) practices or certification.
  • Specialized training in process improvement or certification.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and PMBOK.
