About the position

The Project/Program Manager III (Engineering/Ergonomist) position is a critical role focused on enhancing workplace ergonomics and human factors engineering. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of physical ergonomics and occupational biomechanics, as well as the ability to apply ergonomic principles to improve workplace safety and efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and redesigning workstations and environments to minimize musculoskeletal risks while optimizing human performance. This position demands a strong analytical mindset, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, detail-oriented team environment. In this role, the Project/Program Manager will utilize various ergonomic methods and digital human modeling applications to analyze and redesign work processes. The candidate will be expected to conduct field measurements, analyze data, and apply statistical methods to ensure that ergonomic solutions are both effective and sustainable. The position also involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. The candidate must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and possess excellent communication skills to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders. The role is 100% remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements, but it does require a commitment to travel at least 50% of the time to various industrial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ergonomics, experience with digital human modeling tools, and a proven track record in research management and process improvement. This position is essential for driving ergonomic initiatives that enhance employee well-being and productivity in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and redesign workstations and environments to minimize musculoskeletal risks.
  • Utilize ergonomic methods and digital human modeling applications for analysis and redesign.
  • Conduct field measurements and analyze data using applicable statistics.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders to implement ergonomic solutions.
  • Apply predetermined motion time systems and CAD applications in ergonomic assessments.
  • Demonstrate technical competency in ergonomic principles and analysis tools.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in ergonomics, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or related fields with a strong emphasis in physical ergonomics/occupational biomechanics.
  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
  • 2+ years of direct experience in industrial settings as a physical human factor/ergonomics engineer.
  • Knowledge and skill in applying a variety of field ergonomic methods.
  • Experience using digital human modeling applications such as 3DSSPP, Siemens Jack, or Santos.
  • Strong analytical and statistical background for quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage priorities and deliverables.
  • Experience with predetermined motion time systems like MTM, MOST, or MODAPTS.
  • Knowledge of CAD applications and programming/scripting using Python or Matlab.
  • Proven experience in research management and communication through peer-reviewed publications.
