About the position

The Project/Program Manager III is responsible for managing small to medium-sized projects with limited risk and complexity, often under the guidance of a State supervisor or manager. This role requires advanced project management skills and the ability to work independently on complex projects that align with state government priorities. The individual will apply project management principles, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure adherence to standards while coordinating resources and communications among project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage small to medium-sized projects under the direction of a State supervisor or manager.
• Apply project management principles and techniques as defined in the PMBOK.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and timelines, reporting on progress and status deliverables.
• Full responsibility for scope management, configuration management, and change control issues logs.
• Coordinate and oversee all project resources including IS technical staff, customers, and contract personnel.
• Ensure adherence to project management, development, testing, and documentation standards of the ISD division.
• Coordinate the implementation of applications with the assigned LSA.
• Manage resource allocation and project team capacity to ensure project work is accomplished.
• Facilitate project communications and regular stand-up project meetings.
• Control and monitor all outsourced tasks.

Requirements

• Successful project management experience limited to small scope projects.
• Ability to manage projects with clear, achievable outcomes.
• Mastery of project management skills, qualifications, and experience.
• Experience in statewide project portfolio management and/or IT Investment Management.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with high levels of state government.
• Familiarity with project management tools and software.
