About the position

The Project/Program Manager III position at King County's Metro Transit Capital Division is designed for a resourceful and systems-oriented individual who will support the Project Management Office (PMO). This role focuses on shaping management practices and systems that enhance the capital program's planning, delivery, and performance management. The successful candidate will engage in data management, process management, and knowledge management, contributing to continuous improvement efforts and ensuring high-quality standards in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Make/modify recommendations for new systems, processes, standards, and change.
  • Develop program methodologies, conduct research, apply new tools and concepts.
  • Manage data gathering and apply processes for information distribution and dissemination.
  • Represent and advocate for the PMO to others and promote PMO services and products.
  • Conduct/lead technical meetings, coordinate work by cross-functional teams.
  • Resolve team disputes and build consensus.
  • Coordinate review/comments on processes, procedures, standards, or systems related to the program.
  • Provide technical expertise to perform research, analysis, and prototype new solutions.
  • Be proactive in conducting outreach, investigations, and analyze findings for building buy-in and clarity of purpose.
  • Manage work orders or contracts related to PMO functional needs.
  • Develop and manage databases (Airtable) and support SharePoint services.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in project management, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Education, or closely related field, OR any equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Demonstrated experience in SharePoint administration.
  • Demonstrated experience with Data/Information Management, Process Management, and/or Knowledge Management concepts.
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge of Project Management techniques and/or concepts.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to complete tasks or assignments within specified deadlines.
  • Ability to work respectfully with others and establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience working with teams in establishing and documenting standard processes.
  • Demonstrated experience training others on standard processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiar with Project Management Institute (PMI) practices and/or hold a certification.
  • Specialized training in process improvement and/or hold a certification.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles, including a good understanding of Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
