About the position

The Project Purchasing Manager at Cupertino Electric, Inc. is responsible for managing the procurement of materials and equipment for a multiphase data center construction project. This role involves strategic purchasing of electrical commodities, vendor engagement, and collaboration with project teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials. The Project Purchasing Manager will also track and expedite material deliveries, issue purchase orders, and assist with financial discrepancies, all while fostering relationships with suppliers and contributing to cost reduction efforts.

Responsibilities

• Support the construction of a multiphase data center by managing procurement processes.
• Strategically purchase electrical commodities to facilitate project installation.
• Onboard vendors through RFPs, QCS, and submittal processes.
• Collaborate with General Foreman to develop Bills of Material for project phases.
• Interface with suppliers weekly to discuss project needs, backorders, and deliveries.
• Execute site purchasing programs including onsite consignments and kitting.
• Track, expedite, and report on all materials arriving at the site.
• Issue accurate purchase orders and assist Accounts Payable with discrepancies.
• Generate reports and clean up outstanding commitments in the system.
• Develop and review performance scorecards with suppliers quarterly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent industry experience.
• Five years of purchasing experience, preferably in construction of electrical distribution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Ability to identify and drive cost reduction opportunities.
