About the position

The Project Reliability Engineer I at Saint-Gobain is responsible for enhancing plant operations through engineering support. This role involves planning, scheduling, and executing projects that improve efficiency, safety, and product quality. The engineer will analyze data, troubleshoot operations, and collaborate with various teams to implement engineering solutions that meet production needs. The position requires strong technical skills, planning capabilities, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and make improvements of operations, efficiency and safety.
  • Analyze data to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop new or modify existing equipment, machines or processes to improve product quality, service reliability, reduce costs or increase capacity.
  • Perform calculations and cost estimates of mechanical systems.
  • Plan project work through team coordination meeting and scheduling.
  • Consult with manufacturing operations, engineers and maintenance personnel on projects, problems and techniques to resolve critical situations expeditiously and achieve production goals.
  • Update and maintain current documentation of specifications, drawings and safety procedures.
  • Define the problems of requesting department, and translate them into engineering solutions through innovation and advanced engineering approaches.
  • Apply WCM tools to projects and processes to improve quality, reduce defects and thereby improving costs.
  • Report all EH&S incidents - Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Experience with identifying root cause and failure analysis.
  • Ability to develop and implement improvement projects towards improve process and or equipment.
  • Proven ability in problem analysis and resolution.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to work effectively with personnel throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Six Sigma experience and working knowledge is a plus. Experience with 2D AutoCAD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Six Sigma principles, tools and methods.
  • Familiarity with 2D AutoCAD.
