About the position

The Project Remediation Geologist or Engineer position at Geosyntec in Santa Barbara, California, focuses on enhancing contaminated site assessment and remediation practices. The role involves managing various environmental projects through their financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages, while also mentoring junior staff and ensuring client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors.
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing.
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps and figures using GIS/Environmental Visualization Software (EVS) applications, and database management.
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Review and manage written document production.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
  • Business development; including bringing in new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and developing and implementing a business development plan.
  • Conduct fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments.
  • Support lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, or related field (required).
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.G. or P.E.) (required).
  • At least 7 years of direct environmental consulting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams (required).
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients (required).
  • Proven leadership skills (required).
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, geology, or related field (preferred).
  • Previous oil and gas remediation experience (preferred).
  • Site redevelopment experience (preferred).
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations (preferred).
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).
