About the position

Vaughn Construction is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator to oversee safety and health administration across various construction projects. This role is crucial in ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to, and it involves developing specific on-site safety programs tailored to each project. The Project Safety Coordinator will conduct site audits to identify unsafe practices and conditions, making recommendations for improvements based on specific regulations. Additionally, the coordinator will lead accident investigations, train personnel on safety practices, manage workers' compensation claims, and provide first aid when necessary. This position requires interaction with all personnel on the project site, ensuring that safety remains a top priority throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Safety Coordinator will administer both the General Contractor (GC) and Owner safety program requirements, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. They will be responsible for recordkeeping and document control related to Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) and training, which includes generating various reports for the Owner. The coordinator will also assist in developing and maintaining Hazard Analysis Documentation, ensuring that all safety measures are documented and communicated effectively. Staying current on safety regulations is essential, as is maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality to foster a reliable and safe working environment. Responsibilities

  • Administers both the GC and Owner safety program requirements.
  • Develops specific onsite programs, as required.
  • Performs site audits for unsafe practices and conditions, making recommendations and knowing specific regulations for proper corrections.
  • Leads and performs accident investigations.
  • Trains personnel, including conducting Vaughn toolbox talks in general meetings.
  • Reports workers' compensation claims and performs onsite administration for both Vaughn Construction Company (VCC) and subcontractor injuries.
  • Performs recordkeeping and document control for HAZCOM, training, and other safety-related documentation, including various reports to the Owner.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining Hazard Analysis Documentation.
  • Administers First Aid, CPR, and AED where necessary.
  • Stays current on safety regulations and performs other duties to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in construction safety or equivalent combinations of CSP, OHST, CHST, etc.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in building construction safety.
  • Current OSHA 500 or 502 training within the last four years.
  • Current emergency first aid, CPR, and AED training within the last two years.
  • Working knowledge and experience in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical safety, and incident investigation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Email, and PDF.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, or ability to translate between the two languages.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
