About the position

The Project Safety Manager for the EV Battery Factory in Jeffersonville, Ohio, plays a crucial role in fostering an Incident and Injury Free Culture (IIFC) within the organization. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive Project Safety Roadmap and Site Safety Plan, ensuring that all safety protocols align with federal, state, and local regulations. The Project Safety Manager will generate weekly Total Case Incident Reports for large projects, which will be submitted to project leadership and management. This role requires leading incident and injury investigations in collaboration with Production leadership and providing support during weekly toolbox safety meetings. Additionally, the Project Safety Manager will monitor and audit compliance with safety standards and regulations for both Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) and its subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project safety requirements. The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced safety professional, certified in OSHA 30, with a strong background in construction safety, particularly within the electrical industry. Familiarity with industry consensus standards such as NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI is essential. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to influence safety behaviors among team members. A commitment to safety as a core value is paramount, as the Project Safety Manager will be instrumental in supporting and evaluating the effectiveness of CEI's safety programs. This role offers the opportunity to engage with field personnel, co-facilitate safety training sessions, and assist the Project Leadership Team in executing safety meetings, thereby contributing to a culture that prioritizes safety for employees, the public, and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a Project Safety Roadmap and Site Safety Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Generate weekly Total Case Incident Reports for large projects.
  • Lead incident and injury investigations with support from Production leadership.
  • Assist during weekly toolbox safety meetings.
  • Monitor and audit compliance of CEI and subcontractors with applicable safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or similar field preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
  • CPR/FA Certified (Trainer Preferred) and other safety certifications desired.
  • 3 to 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in electrical safety.
  • Must be willing to obtain BCSP CHST certification or higher within 12 months.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the electrical industry consensus standards including NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI.
