About the position

The Project Safety Manager at Wagman, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the safety protocols and compliance for the Heavy Civil project in Newark, DE. This role involves administering the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program, conducting inspections and audits, managing incidents, and ensuring adherence to company policies and OSHA regulations. The Project Safety Manager will also be involved in training and coaching project teams on safety practices and will report directly to the Corporate Safety Director.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the EHS program and ensure compliance with Wagman policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct project inspections and audits, including SIF and Quarterly Audits.
  • Manage incidents and ensure proper documentation and investigation processes are followed.
  • Develop and implement project-specific safety orientation programs.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings and SIF planning with project teams.
  • Assist with the development of work plans and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
  • Conduct company and OSHA required training sessions for project teams.
  • Measure the effectiveness of safety programs and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in construction, preferably in heavy civil projects.
  • CSP, ASP, CHST, or STS designations preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer certification required.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 150 feet.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience in heavy highway or bridge construction.
