The Project Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in providing expertise and consultation on HVAC, piping, and electrical systems. This position involves working closely with customers to identify repair and retrofit opportunities, focusing on financial and energy-based solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating, engineering, and selling mechanical projects, while also maintaining strong relationships with existing customers and collaborating with the sales team. In this role, the Project Sales Engineer will utilize their organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads and develop specific action plans for key accounts. They will actively discover customer needs and market opportunities, converting leads into sales by assembling the appropriate sales team and leading the sales process. Building multiple relationships within customer organizations is essential, as is achieving a satisfactory rate of new sales. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate, engineer, and sell retrofit, repair, and replacement mechanical projects
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers and collaborate with management and the sales team
  • Provide knowledge and consultation on HVAC system solutions, including financial and performance-based solutions
  • Use cold calling skills to schedule appointments with new customers
  • Organize and prioritize workload effectively
  • Identify key customers and develop specific action plans to grow those accounts
  • Discover customer needs and current market opportunities
  • Assemble and coordinate sales teams as needed for customers and projects
  • Identify potential opportunities with existing and new customers
  • Convert leads into opportunities by identifying the appropriate sales course of action
  • Develop multiple relationships with buying influences within the customer's organization
  • Maintain an acceptable rate of new sales
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, business management, or equivalent
  • Three to five years of experience in facilities or HVAC services, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and piping systems for design, estimating, and sales
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical and financial skills
  • Interest in business development and networking
  • Strong understanding and interest in modern technologies
