About the position

The Sr. Project Manager at SAP is responsible for managing large-scale, high-risk strategic projects that support customer transformation strategies. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to project management methodologies, and maintaining communication with stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. The Sr. Project Manager also plays a crucial role during the bid phase, providing insights into project structure and risk assessment, while managing relationships with various parties involved in the project.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cloud, on-premise, or hybrid implementation initiatives for customer transformation strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver project outputs on time, within budget, and meeting quality criteria.
  • Provide project management mentoring and status updates to customers and SAP management.
  • Assist during the Bid Phase by providing input into proposals regarding solution delivery models and project scoping.
  • Ensure project objectives and requirements are met through proper delivery model support.
  • Conduct project planning activities and manage execution according to SAP's Activate methodology.
  • Evaluate complex situations and identify viable solutions for successful project outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with project stakeholders and keep them informed of progress and issues.
  • Create a motivating project environment that enables peak performance by team members.
  • Ensure proper governance and methodology use to meet project objectives.
  • Balance time, cost, and scope to realize expected business value.
  • Build customer relationships to deliver follow-on business and identify new opportunities.
  • Manage financial aspects of the project, including budgeting and variance analysis.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of project management experience in large scale, high risk, or strategic projects with multiple E2E full lifecycle implementations.
  • 3 - 5 years of supervisory or coaching experience in team building and leading teams.
  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, engineering, information technologies, or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current PMP certification and/or other industry project management certifications.
  • MS Project Orange Belt Certification.
  • Agile or SCRUM certification highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a consulting role with a SAP services provider.
  • Excellent understanding of SAP digital, cloud, and innovation solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining project deliverables.
  • Ability to train and mentor project managers or teams in project management methodologies.
