About the position
The position at CoolSys involves providing basic assistance in the installation and retrofitting of new energy management systems within supermarkets. The role is designed to ensure efficient power use in lighting, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems, contributing to the company's mission of delivering best-in-class indoor environment solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provides support on EMS job sites under direction and partial supervision of project foreman.
- Lay out and pull cable or wire, mount enclosures, boards, and VFDs on existing and operational equipment.
- Provide assistance to the Foreman on small, selected portions of the project to gain additional knowledge.
- Fill out project completion documentation as required by CoolSys and/or customer.
- Perform other related duties and projects assigned by management.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with foreman, store, and/or facility personnel.
- Travel to projects across the US, arrange own travel accommodations, and submit accurate expense reports in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of electronic controls, refrigeration systems, or electrical systems.
- Knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools, safety equipment, within best practices of commercial installation guidelines.
- Basic understanding of high voltage systems (115V, 208, 460V) and hazards.
- Basic understanding of refrigerant systems, pressures, hazards, and best practices of mechanical system operation and installation.
- Ability to read prints, plans, diagrams, and details of the store layout.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, making decisions that enhance project quality and productivity.
- Ability to work at high elevations, such as 14 ft ladders, roofs, and scissor lifts.

- Certification or certificate in a related field is recommended but not required.
