About the position

The Project Surveyor is responsible for managing land survey projects and serving as the technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects. This role involves both fieldwork and office tasks, with occasional short-term travel assignments outside the Kansas City area. The position emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and professionalism, contributing to community development and improved connectivity through effective surveying practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage land survey projects and serve as technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, including developing project scope and fees, and preparing project budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate staffing needs for field crews and office staff to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Conduct in-depth research of records related to current survey projects and refer to parcel maps and related materials.
  • Monitor project schedules and financials, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Represent the survey group on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Supervise data reduction, computation, and mapping analysis.
  • Complete advanced analysis of survey data, including computations and data collection using CAD software.
  • Represent the company at local and state regulatory hearings and make presentations as needed.
  • Perform fieldwork associated with land surveying, engineering, and construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate and legible field notes of survey work, including mathematical calculations and benchmarks.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to ensure satisfaction with work performed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced land surveying systems, technology, and analysis.
  • At least five years of project surveyor experience preferred.
  • Ability to determine boundaries accurately.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality.
  • Commitment to the success of all projects and integrity in work.
  • Ability to see all colors is required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • AAS or BS in land surveying or a related field preferred.
  • State licensure required.
