About the position

T. Baker Smith is seeking a driven Project Surveyor, preferably licensed (P.L.S), to join our dynamic and growing team in Houma, Louisiana. This position offers an exciting opportunity to plan, design, and direct various surveying projects from a technical perspective. As a Project Surveyor, you will be responsible for administering surveying activities, which include oversight of manpower, technical resources, safety, and client communication for multiple projects. You will lead the technical aspects of projects that involve non-routine and complex assignments, ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. In this role, you will create, review, and certify survey documents and legal records, as well as prepare and execute QA/QC deliverables. You will manage projects and supervise technicians, collaborating closely with project teams to develop deliverables that are incorporated into the overall project. Active participation in client meetings and industry events is essential to strengthen our existing client base and service offerings, as well as to identify opportunities for growth within the markets we serve. You will also be responsible for sharing weekly progress and status reports on project deliverables with all project stakeholders and team associates. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in geomatics/surveying or a related field, along with a surveying license (P.L.S) in Louisiana and 1-5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in volume calculation, cross-section generation, and property boundary work is required, as well as the ability to operate technical software. Experience with Hypack, ArcGIS software systems, oil & gas, pipeline survey, and the migration/transformation of spatial data from different sources is a plus. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Carlson survey software, and Trimble Business Center software is also essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geomatics/surveying or a related field (cartography, computer science, civil engineering, geography, etc.).
  • A surveying license (P.L.S) in Louisiana with 1-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in volume calculation, cross-section generation, and property boundary work.
  • Ability to operate computer using technical software.
  • Experience in Hypack, ArcGIS software systems, oil & gas, pipeline survey, and migration/transformation of spatial data from different sources is a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Carlson survey software, and Trimble Business Center software.
