About The Position

H2M Architects + Engineers is seeking a Wastewater Engineer with over 7 years of experience to join their Wastewater team. The role involves leading project design and managing a design team, focusing on wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment processes. The successful candidate will interface with clients and third-party construction managers, ensuring project success and compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical) required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of professional work experience in the design and/or design services during construction of wastewater treatment plants, collection and conveyance systems, and alternative onsite treatment systems.
  • Experience with construction administration and project management of designed systems is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in New York or ability to obtain NY PE through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Teams, Outlook).
  • Understanding of Autodesk Revit and Civil 3D software programs.

  • Experience with construction administration and project management of designed systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work in various fields with an emphasis on wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment processes.
  • Lead engineering evaluations, execute design calculations, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications with support from senior engineering staff.
  • Manage construction administration and on-site resident support activities, including coordination of shop drawing reviews and RFI responses.
  • Lead the development of construction change orders and manage project-related administrative tasks.
  • Interface directly with clients and third-party construction managers, presenting engineering findings.
  • Support environmental studies, permitting, and alternative analyses.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing.
  • Perform field activities such as site investigations, witness testing, and milestone construction observation.
  • Collect, manipulate, analyze, and document data, including engineering design reports and studies.
  • Supervise, schedule, delegate, and manage the work of technical staff and junior engineers.
  • Assist with business development pursuits, writing technical proposals, and budgeting.
  • Lead project pursuits of small and moderate size.
