About the position
The position involves performing a variety of Environmental Services duties under the direction of the Lead custodian, Supervisor, or Manager. The primary responsibilities include maintaining Medical Center areas in a clean, sanitary, and aesthetic condition. Project workers will be stationed in various locations and will work various shifts, performing complete cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, corridors, public rooms, offices, service, or other designated areas as needed. Candidates must be committed to consistently following and embodying the Baystate Health System Service Standards and Services values, which include role modeling, maintaining a positive attitude, team building, and practicing good communication skills while taking accountability for their actions. The role requires frequent positive interactions with patients, families, and caregivers in a calm, caring, and professional manner, respecting the comprehension level of patients and/or families. Other similar and related duties may be required or directed.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, corridors, public rooms, offices, and other designated areas.
- Maintain high levels of interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with coworkers and unit staff.
- Maintain health, safety, and attendance requirements.
- Adhere to system and department compliance policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Complete other departmental duties as required.
Requirements
- GED or HiSET (Required)
- High-level interpersonal skills, must be able to read, write and speak English.
Nice-to-haves
- Customer Service experience and/or experience dealing with the public or prior health care experience preferred.
