About the position

The Project Controls Engineer (Schedule & Cost) at Primoris Industrial & Civil is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact projects through effective scheduling and cost management. This role involves developing and maintaining project schedules, managing budgets, and collaborating with project teams to optimize resources and timelines. The engineer will utilize Primavera P6 and Ecosys to monitor project progress and provide analytical insights to project managers, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the CPM Baseline Schedule in Primavera, including logically tied activities and resource loading.
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into the Master Schedule.
  • Coordinate with the Estimating Team, Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer for schedule development.
  • Update the Schedule weekly and report on deviations from the plan with recommendations for solutions.
  • Run weekly PSC schedule quality filters to ensure schedule quality.
  • Conform project Estimate into a Control Budget by cost account and load it in Ecosys for cost control.
  • Set up Earned Value Progress in Ecosys for the project.
  • Perform daily field walk downs to verify claimed progress.
  • Review craft timesheets and Material Requisitions for correct cost coding daily.
  • Provide weekly reporting of Project Cost and Progress, analyzing deviations from the budget and making recommendations.
  • Manage Change Control by keeping the Project Change Log updated and reflecting approved change orders in the Project Schedule and Cost Budget.
  • Assist Project Managers in developing delay claim impacts and recovery schedules.
  • Issue the monthly Key Project Report for senior management review.
  • Attend various meetings with customers and project team.

Requirements

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of project controls (scheduling/cost) experience.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 scheduling.
  • Ecosys experience preferred but not required.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform functions efficiently and accurately with little direct supervision.
  • Experience in creating, managing, and analyzing construction project schedules.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work well in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional attitude and positive conduct.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with construction project management software other than Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
