About the position

Fountain Electric is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Controls Intern to join our Project Controls Department. This department is critical in managing site schedules, progress tracking, productivity metrics, and ensuring contractual schedule obligations are met. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in project controls processes, working closely with experienced professionals to support our electrical construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Update and monitor schedules to reflect project progress and changes.
  • Collect and input progress data from field teams to ensure accurate tracking of work completion.
  • Prepare progress reports for review by the Project Controls team and project managers.
  • Support the calculation and monitoring of productivity indices to assess project performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify trends and propose solutions for improving efficiency.
  • Assist in reviewing contractual schedule requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Help prepare reports and documentation required for schedule-related contractual obligations.
  • Maintain organized records of schedule updates, progress reports, and project documentation.
  • Generate reports and visual data summaries using Microsoft Excel for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize Microsoft Project for scheduling and tracking project timelines.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to perform data analysis, create productivity trackers, and generate charts and tables.
  • Work closely with project managers, field teams, and other departments to gather necessary information for project controls activities.
  • Participate in department meetings and contribute to discussions on schedule and productivity improvements.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data visualization) and basic knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous coursework or experience in project management, scheduling, or construction is a plus, but not required.
  • Eagerness to learn and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
