About the position

The Proofreading Specialist at Lincoln Financial Group will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of marketing materials. This position involves reviewing and editing content to adhere to editorial and brand guidelines, supporting various teams in maintaining the integrity of copy across multiple media formats. The role is hybrid, allowing for remote work while also utilizing office space for collaboration as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Makes routine corrections on grammar, spelling, formatting, and syntax using track changes in Word and standard proofreading marks in Adobe Acrobat
  • Assists in routine rewrites for improved accuracy, clarity, conciseness, consistency, readability, style, and tone
  • Supports writers, marketing managers, and designers regarding routine content changes to ensure the integrity of copy is maintained across multiple media, including print, video, email, web, and social media
  • Confirms that literature is aimed at the correct target audience, i.e., financial professional vs. client
  • Performs routine work from a proofreading queue using a paperless workflow in Workfront on projects related to their assigned business line(s); assists other proofreaders on other business lines as needed
  • Takes part in Center of Excellence meetings and activities to improve overall consistency and effectiveness of Lincoln's marketing materials conforming to Lincoln brand voice and style guidelines

Requirements

  • 1 - 3+ Years experience in marketing, journalism, or related field that directly aligns with the responsibilities for this position
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated solid relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues)
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Group Protection and/or Retirement Plan products
  • Familiarity with Workfront process management software
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Experience in using Adobe suite of tools for editing (Acrobat & Word)
