About the position

The propeller vibration test engineer at Hartzell Propeller Inc. is responsible for conducting vibration test activities to assess the compatibility of propellers and engines for aircraft installations. This role involves coordinating test activities, managing logistics, analyzing data, and preparing technical reports. The position also requires travel, both domestically and internationally, to perform tests and aims for the engineer to achieve FAA ODA Unit Member status.

Responsibilities

  • Perform propeller vibration test functions for determining propeller and engine compatibility
  • Manage project assignments including conducting propeller vibration test planning and testing
  • Analyze and write technical reports documenting the propeller/engine/aircraft testing and compatibility
  • Communicate with co-workers, customers, and outside consultants regarding design, configuration and installation issues

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering Tech with an A&P certificate
  • Airplane pilot experience and knowledge of General Aviation aircraft is highly desirable
  • Experience with or knowledge of electronic equipment is also highly desirable
  • Knowledge of flight testing: test plans, techniques, data acquisition and reduction, preparation of test reports
  • Knowledge of vibration and fatigue
  • Knowledge of aircraft performance
  • Proficient Computer Skills (MS-Office minimum)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
