About the position

The Property Accountant at AIY Properties is responsible for managing financial records related to residential apartment communities. This role involves reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, income statements, and tenant ledgers, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and tenant billing. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility in work location after training.

Responsibilities

  • Complete preliminary review of various balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Evaluate income statements and tenant ledger reconciliations.
  • Read and understand leases and other legal documents.
  • Preview tenant statements to ensure accuracy of recurring and past due charges.
  • Collaborate with property managers to address questions regarding tenant ledger balances.
  • Handle tenant ledger corrections and non-recurring tenant billings.
  • Review account receivables delinquencies and cash applications.
  • Prepare and facilitate security deposit depositions and refunds to Accounts Payable.
  • Facilitate the eviction process from beginning to end.
  • Perform all other related job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in an AR/Accounting role in a busy office environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn specialized software, with Yardi experience being helpful but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to keep accurate records.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to efficiently multi-task.
