About the position
The Property Accountant position at a top-tier publicly traded commercial real estate company in Franklin, TN, involves preparing financial statements, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supporting audit requests. This role is ideal for candidates with 1-3 years of real estate accounting experience or public accountants seeking to advance their careers in a reputable firm. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing employees to work from home three days a week and in the office two days a week.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all aspects of the financial statement package, including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger review, and completion of bank reconciliations.
- Coordinate month-end close and production of financial statements.
- Prepare CAM reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and analyze variances.
- Analyze variances in financial statements and provide explanations to management.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Review setup of real estate leases and amendments.
- Assist with setting up accounting procedures for newly acquired properties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1+ years of commercial real estate or property accounting experience is a plus.
- Real estate accounting/leasing experience is a plus.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Yardi experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
