About the position

The Property Accountant at Hillpointe is responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting for a portfolio of multifamily properties. This role involves preparing financial statements, managing cash flow, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements and reporting packages for multiple properties in a timely manner.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and provide comments on properties within the portfolio.
  • Manage cash flow and anticipate future cash deficiencies for assigned properties.
  • Calculate and process required cash contributions and distributions.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Ensure accurate vendor invoicing and timely payments.
  • Oversee critical payments such as real estate taxes, insurance, and debt service for assigned properties.
  • Review lender escrows and replacement reserve escrows to ensure adequate funds are available.
  • Reconcile escrows and reserves monthly, when applicable.
  • Communicate with on-site teams to assist in completing pre-close and close activities.
  • Review site reports against general ledger reports for accuracy during month-end preparation.
  • Calculate and review management fees for accuracy.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare supplementary reporting as required.
  • Close the general ledger monthly and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Review and post accruals and reclasses as needed.
  • Assist in preparing supporting working papers for year-end audits.
  • Follow up on the status of budgets throughout the draft, revised, and final stages.
  • Assist with special or ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property accounting.
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with financial systems software required, RealPage preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of employees and management.
