About the position

The Property Adjuster II position at Erie Insurance involves exercising independent judgment in handling various property claims. This remote role requires the adjuster to conduct investigations, prepare estimates, and negotiate claims while also assisting the claims supervisor when necessary. The ideal candidate will reside near the Buffalo, NY area and will be responsible for managing claims from initiation to conclusion, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations, interviews, and inspect damage within assigned territory.
  • Prepare estimates, handle coverage questions, and manage litigation.
  • Set and maintain reserves, review reports, and determine claim value.
  • Document claim files and submit reports for closure.
  • Recognize subrogation situations and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Interact with agents and district sales managers on mutual concerns.
  • Assist claims supervisor and represent the company at legal proceedings as required.
  • Complete industry-related training programs and stay informed on policy changes.
  • Assist in training new claims adjusters.
  • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with five years of claims handling experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with two years of claims handling experience.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred.
