As a Property Adjuster II at Erie Insurance, you will exercise independent discretion and judgment in handling all types of property claims. This role requires you to conduct thorough investigations, interviews, and inspections of damages, often necessitating travel to the site of damage within your assigned territory. You will be responsible for preparing estimates, making recommendations, and addressing coverage questions and litigation matters. Your expertise will be crucial in setting and maintaining reserves, reviewing reports, directing experts, determining coverage and claim value, and negotiating claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary. In addition to managing claims, you will document claim files meticulously and submit reports for closure. Recognizing subrogation situations and initiating appropriate actions will also be part of your responsibilities. You will service your assigned territory, ensuring that claims are brought to conclusion efficiently. Interaction with agents and district sales managers on matters of mutual concern will be essential, as will assisting the claims supervisor or acting on their behalf, including representing the company at legal proceedings when required. Continuous professional development is encouraged, and you will be expected to complete industry-related training programs to stay informed on policy changes, interpretations, or new legislation. You may also assist in training new claims adjusters and participate on the Catastrophe Team when required.
