About the position

As a Property Adjuster II at Liberty Mutual Insurance, you will play a crucial role in investigating commercial property claims. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating damages, determining coverage, and setting accurate loss cost estimates. You will be tasked with controlling the insured's exposures and losses, managing consultants, and achieving prompt, fair, and equitable settlements in accordance with fair claims handling requirements. This position requires you to negotiate settlements for claims that vary in complexity and perils, ensuring that all actions taken are in line with the company's commitment to integrity and customer service. Training is a critical component of your success in this role, and reliable attendance is mandatory. Depending on your location, this position may have in-office requirements. You will conduct thorough investigations by obtaining relevant facts to determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss. This includes reviewing financial statements to adjust moderately sized business interruption losses and conducting on-site appraisals or directing independent adjusters to gather necessary information. You will engage and manage consultants and independent adjusters as required, monitoring costs to ensure they are reasonable and necessary. Establishing and maintaining accurate loss cost estimates and reserves for each claim is essential for reporting and financial records. Keeping the insured and other stakeholders informed about the claim's status through clear, timely, and accurate communications is a key responsibility. You will also be responsible for affirming or denying coverage based on the facts and policy terms, as well as developing information necessary for advance, partial, and final payments when appropriate. In this role, you will meet the time requirements of the policy and fair claims handling practices while effectively negotiating settlements of varying complexity. You will be expected to keep the electronic claim file properly documented with accurate, clear, and timely information that reflects your adjustment activities and substantiates any payments made. Participation in quality assurance file review sessions and serving as a technical resource for less experienced claims personnel may also be part of your duties. Additionally, you may be called upon for catastrophe duty, which may require travel to the site of a catastrophe for assignments that could last several weeks.
