About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate.
  • One year of work experience in evidence handling or in the law enforcement field.
  • Valid Driver's License at the time of application.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, identifies, inventories, packages, tags, and stores evidence, found property, and personal property for the Denver Police Department.
  • Documents information in computer database inventory systems to establish and maintain the legal chain of custody.
  • Updates or deletes evidence/property information in computer databases.
  • Retrieves evidence when requested by authorized personnel and monitors the viewing and handling of evidence.
  • Checks firearms submitted as evidence or personal/found property to ensure they are rendered safe and secured.
  • Documents the release and disposal of property/evidence following departmental and legal policies and procedures.
  • Composes correspondence to inquiries from the public and police personnel.
