About the position

The Property & Casualty Insurance Underwriter at Hylant is responsible for evaluating individual account risks and determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing. This role involves managing an assigned book of business, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, and achieving profitability goals while supporting team members and contributing to projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned book of business underwriting risk and pricing for partner agents.
• Review commercial coverage forms, rating plans, and guidelines.
• Ensure adequate pricing through identification of exposures and proper classifications.
• Complete quotes, policies, and endorsements.
• Respond to questions on reviews and responses from agents and clients in a timely manner.
• Achieve premium, rate, and profitability goals within the assigned book of business.
• Identify cross-sell opportunities with additional or complementary coverage options.
• Provide backup support for other team members in times of absence.

Requirements

• 3 - 5 years of insurance underwriting experience
• Excellent communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing
• Flexibility and creativity for developing innovative and customized business solutions
• Exceptional relationship development and interpersonal skills
• Ability to balance diverse and competing workloads
• Ability to work well with others in solution of mutual problems; respect the opinions, abilities, and contributions of others; cooperative and open-minded in working with others.
• Computer literacy for Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet with the ability to create and edit spreadsheets, presentations, and correspondence.
