About the position

The Property Maintenance Inspector I position involves specialized inspections of properties to ensure compliance with the International Property Maintenance Code and local ordinances. The role focuses on identifying and addressing issues related to deteriorated, dilapidated, abandoned, unsanitary, or vacant properties within the municipality.

Responsibilities

• Inspect properties for compliance with the International Property Maintenance Code and local ordinances.
• Identify and report on deteriorated, dilapidated, abandoned, unsanitary, or vacant properties.
• Enforce regulatory requirements related to property maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings.
• Attend continuing education courses to maintain certification and licensing.

Requirements

• Must obtain International Code Council certification in International Property Maintenance Code within 12 months of hire.
• Must possess a valid West Virginia driver's license.
• Required to attend continuing education to maintain the State Inspector's license through the WV State Fire Marshal's Office.
