About the position

People's Self-Help Housing Corporation is seeking a temporary, experienced Property Manager to oversee a 36-unit tax-credit property in Arroyo Grande, California. This full-time position is expected to last for at least two months, with potential for a longer-term assignment. The role involves managing tenant applications, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining the property to provide a welcoming environment for low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Process tenant applications including marketing the property, accepting applications, and qualifying applicants.
  • Annually re-certify tenants and prepare for audits from regulatory agencies.
  • Perform move-in and move-out inspections with tenants and maintenance staff.
  • Maintain accurate information on vacancies and the make-ready process.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements for tenant and unit files.
  • Assist with periodic inspections and ensure work orders are prioritized and completed.
  • Review lease and house rules with new tenants and assist in organizing community events.
  • Help with budget overview and ensure variance reporting is completed monthly.
  • Collect rents according to policy and maintain tenant and unit files.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience with YARDI property management software is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse cultures and economic statuses.
  • Experience in affordable property management (USDA, TCAC, HOME, and/or HUD) preferred.
  • Valid CA driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Experience working in an office environment and using office equipment.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality with proprietary company information.
  • Light lifting (up to 20 pounds) and ability to walk, bend, and squat for short periods.
