About the position

The Brookline Housing Authority (BHA) is seeking a dedicated Property Manager to oversee all aspects of property management within the organization. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all leasing agreements are enforced and that residents make timely rent payments. The Property Manager will also be tasked with ensuring that all procedures and housing units comply with applicable regulations. This includes coordinating with Maintenance and Applications staff to ensure that vacancy turn-over is completed within an acceptable timeframe. The role may require attendance at evening and weekend meetings or events, reflecting the commitment to maintaining optimal function, safety, and resident satisfaction across assigned BHA buildings. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Property Manager will play a crucial role in fostering a positive living environment for residents. This involves addressing resident concerns, ensuring that properties are well-maintained, and implementing policies that enhance the quality of life for all tenants. The Property Manager will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reports related to property management activities, which are essential for compliance and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in property management, particularly within the public or affordable housing sectors. They will be expected to demonstrate leadership skills, effective communication, and a commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion in housing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of property management at the Brookline Housing Authority.
  • Enforce leasing agreements and ensure timely rent payments by residents.
  • Ensure compliance of all procedures and units with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Applications staff for timely vacancy turn-over.
  • Oversee assigned BHA buildings to ensure optimal function and safety.
  • Address resident concerns and enhance resident satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to property management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in property management, preferably in Public Housing or affordable housing.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and insurability under the Authority's plan preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with HUD Secure Systems, DHCD Online Housing Applications, and affordable housing accounting/compliance software systems is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Public Housing and/or affordable housing preferred.
  • Ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.
