About the position

The Property & Resident Relations Manager at HHI Management Company is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of several affordable housing developments. This role requires a compassionate individual with a strong commitment to social justice, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to navigate complex federal regulations. The manager will interact with applicants and tenants, maintain waiting lists, conduct lease signings, and ensure compliance with housing regulations while addressing tenant concerns and coordinating maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with applicants and tenants to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain the waiting list and determine initial eligibility for applicants.
  • Conduct lease signings and execute related move-in documents.
  • Address tenant concerns and inspect properties for maintenance needs and safety issues.
  • Coordinate and assist with maintenance bids and contracts.
  • Ensure maximum occupancy and manage rental collections.
  • Initiate preparation of notices and actions related to termination of tenancy in compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for the properties.
  • Perform day-to-day property management functions.

Requirements

  • Valid Real Estate Salesperson license in the State of Michigan.
  • Associate's degree strongly preferred, with relevant experience as a substitute.
  • Experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credit certification or similar experience preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong document management and project management skills required.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel; experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver's license meeting insurance requirements.
