About the position

The Editor position within our sales proposal professional careers offers an opportunity to support business development efforts by editing proposals for US federal and private sector projects. This role requires a strong command of writing style, mechanics, and tone, along with the ability to communicate complex technical content clearly to a diverse audience. The Editor will synthesize various content into a cohesive narrative while ensuring grammatical correctness and clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Edit proposals for grammar and style for architect-engineering submittals.
  • Follow the prescribed 'Jacobs Voice' style consistently across documents.
  • Edit content developed by multiple authors into a unified voice.
  • Ensure clarity and comprehension for non-expert audiences.
  • Flag inconsistencies or potential errors during the editing process.
  • Communicate proactively about issues and seek input for solutions.
  • Prioritize work to meet proposal and team deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across multiple business lines.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and escalate issues as necessary.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in journalism, English, communication, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant editing experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience editing content for various document types, preferably in sales or business development.
  • Advanced English writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a focus on sales messaging and proposal aesthetics.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues proactively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and engage with various stakeholders.
