About the position

The Proposal Editor at Jacobs plays a crucial role in supporting business development by editing proposals for US federal and private sector projects. This position requires a strong command of writing and editing skills to ensure clarity and consistency across various documents, while also synthesizing content from multiple authors into a cohesive narrative. The role is hybrid and allows for flexibility in location within the US, making it accessible to a wide range of candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Edit proposals for grammar, style, and clarity across various architect-engineering submittals.
  • Synthesize content developed by multiple authors into a consistent voice following the 'Jacobs Voice' style.
  • Flag areas of inconsistency or potential errors while reading for meaning during the editing process.
  • Proactively communicate issues and seek input to develop timely solutions.
  • Prioritize work to meet proposal and team deliverable deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and active listening skills.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across multiple business lines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adhere to enterprise health and safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in journalism, English, communication, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant editing experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience editing content for various document types, preferably in sales or business development.
  • Advanced English writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a focus on sales messaging and proposal aesthetics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and engage with various stakeholders.
  • Experience working independently and proactively resolving issues to meet deadlines.
