About the position

Join Metso as a Proposals and Sales Support Engineer within our Bulk Material Handling (BMH) Product team, where you will play a crucial role in creating unique and complex offerings tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers. This position focuses on solutions for Metso's BMH Electrical and Instrumentation product group, which is part of our broader Grinding, Bulk, and Pyro equipment offerings. You will be responsible for reviewing customer inquiries, identifying their needs, and crafting proposals that include engineering services, spare parts, upgrades, and retrofits. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of enabling sustainable modern life by transforming the industry toward greener solutions. In this role, you will engage with customers to understand their business requirements and decision-making processes. You will create proposals for complex upgrades and refurbishments, ensuring that they are commercially viable and competitive while effectively communicating the value that Metso brings to the table. You will also develop standard commercial offerings and leverage our installed base to drive business opportunities. Collaboration is key, as you will coordinate with various business lines within Metso to deliver sustainable proposals and provide direct sales support. Additionally, you will ensure that all related company intellectual property is controlled and protected, contributing to the overall success of our projects. This position is primarily based in York, PA, with flexible hybrid working options available, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively. You will be part of a team of experts dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of engineering products and services, focusing on material handling and conveying systems. Your contributions will help shape the future of our industry and promote sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer inquiries to identify needs, requirements, comments, and exceptions.
  • Visit customers to understand their business and corresponding product needs; comprehend their decision process and key drivers.
  • Create proposals for complex upgrades, refurbishments, and retrofits to meet Market Area (Sales) demands.
  • Define application-specific equipment specifications.
  • Ensure proposal competitiveness by clearly communicating the Metso value add for customers.
  • Ensure proposals are commercially viable and competitive while managing Metso's risk.
  • Develop standard commercial offerings for upgrades, retrofits, and refurbishment and deploy these to the MA teams for opportunity generation.
  • Create effective RFQs and obtain proposals from third-party suppliers.
  • Ensure the handover of as-sold packages to the project management team.
  • Define supply needs to Procurement to support opportunities.
  • Coordinate with other business lines within Metso to deliver a value add and sustainable proposal.
  • Provide direct sales support.
  • Work to ensure all related company intellectual property is controlled and protected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in engineering or related field.
  • Previous experience in generating product pricing, reviewing customer inquiries, or designing custom solutions is preferred.
  • Previous experience in any of the GBP (Grinding, Bulk, and Pyro) product groups is preferred.
  • Experience in utilizing Salesforce or any CRM system.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings (single line diagrams, schematics, communications diagrams, technical documentation) in the English and Metric System.
  • Adequate computer skills, capable of working with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
